The video work Newtopia was presented during the festive seasons of Christmas and Chinese New Year on Hong Kong’s largest—and one of the world’s largest—screens. The piece was featured on the Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre screens throughout December and January, selected as a winner of the Sino × Niio Illumination Art Prizes.
Newtopia envisions the city as a living, pulsating organism. Between past, present, and future, between science fiction and Zen, the urban landscape sparkles with a mysterious, mesmerizing futurist promise. Light traces its molecular veins, carrying information through streets and structures, endlessly moving and morphing in perpetual cycles. The city exists here, suspended in this fleeting, luminous moment.
